Bats a blazin!

We goin' to the 'ship!

Despite the less than ideal sleeping situation, the Saints showed no signs of tiredness and we came out with bats a blazing. We scored 5 runs in the first inning and never stopped. We scored every inning except the last of the day. The final score of the first game was 11-0 and was shortened to 5 innings due to the mercy rule. I pitched that game and had quite a few Ks and yes, I gave up that one hit to the number 9 batter.

Tess pitched the second game and did so well! We scored three in the first inning and Sundsvall seemed to shut down. We kept scoring and the final score was 10-0, another 5 inning game. I had a good day at the plate, going 5 for 6. Not all hits were pretty, but a hit is a hit. But then again, almost everyone had a good day at the plate since we scored 21 runs in 10 innings! I was so proud of some of the new players who got base hits, especially Nathalie who had several clutch hits.

So proud of the team! If we play this well next weekend, there's no one who can beat us! Enköping won the first game in extra innings and Leksand won the second, so they will play the deciding third game tomorrow. Good day for the Saints!

Now we are on the bus ride home. Hopefully it won't take 10 hours again, but it is definitely a much happier bus ride compared to the last time we were here playing. So happy!

Several hours later: The bus ride was just as long as the trip to Sundsvall. We watched Tangled, Hitch and Life As We Know It, and we stopped at McDonald's for dinner. We also stopped at a grocery store and Priya convinced me to get Trocadero candy since you can only get it in northern Sweden. She got me with the "it's Swedish culture," argument, so I had to buy the candy. We arrived in Skovde at around 2:00am and then Diane and I had to walk home to the Dungeon, not so fun. So after our 10 hours cooped up on the bus, we trudged home in the cold weather along with all the people going home after a Saturday night at the clubs. I'm just glad we won both today and didn't have to play another game on Sunday.

Our cozy hotel accommodations on Friday night.
On the bus
Yay! We won!
